Chairman, Board of Advisors
Chars is the Chairman of Douglass Winthrop’s Board of Advisors. He was a principal and portfolio manager at the firm from 2009 through 2016. Previously, Chars was a Founder and Managing Member of Scotsman Capital Management LLC. Prior to forming Scotsman, he was the Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer for Victory SBSF Capital Management. Prior to joining SBSF, Chars was an analyst with Prudential-Bache Securities and Oppenheimer & Co., Inc.
Chars serves on the Advisory Board of the Center for Business and Society at Tuck in Hanover, New Hampshire, and is Treasurer of the Pool Association in Biddeford Pool, Maine. He was formerly a Director of Housing Works and a Trustee of the HealthCare Chaplaincy, both based in New York, and was a member of the MBA Advisory Board at Tuck. He was also a Director of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland, Maine.
Chars is a member of the Class of 1982 at Dartmouth College; he graduated Magna cum laude in 1981. He received his M.B.A. from Tuck in 1983, where he was named a Tuck Scholar.
